MAT014   Beginning Mathematics (3)
Prerequisites: Mandatory Placement Policy
Developmental Education - will not apply toward graduation requirements. To provide the student with a basic understanding of arithmetic operations and the real number system. Will cover topics related to whole numbers, fractions, decimals, proportions, and percents. To prepare the student for MAT015 Beginning Algebra.

MAT015   Beginning Algebra (3)
Prerequisites: MAT014 or Mandatory Placement Policy
Developmental Education - will not apply toward graduation requirements. To provide the student with an understanding of elementary algebra. Will cover topics such as operations with signed numbers, factoring, and solving linear and quadratic equations. To prepare the student for MAT020 Intermediate Algebra.

MAT020   Intermediate Algebra (3)
Prerequisites: MAT015 or Mandatory Placement Policy
Developmental Education - will not apply toward graduation requirements. Covers basic topics in algebra, including the solution of linear and quadratic equations, factoring, graphing, inequalities, rational and irrational numbers and functions.

MAT105   College Algebra (3)
Prerequisites: MAT020 or Mandatory Placement Policy
Covers the same topics as MAT020 plus logarithms, sequences, series, determinants and matrices.
        Instructor: Whitney Black
        Instructor: Kelci Botts
        Instructor: Amy Lemer
        Instructor: Jean Swillum
        Instructor: Tracy Watkins

MAT106   Plane Trigonometry (3)
Prerequisites: 2 years of high-school algebra. The course may be accompanied by MAT105
Introduces the study of trigonometric functions. The course includes graphs of the trigonometric functions, radian measure, solution of triangles, and many other applications. The course is designed primarily for those who have not had a course of trigonometry in high school. Students who are intending to take calculus should take Pre-Calculus MAT120.
        Instructor: Dianne Kauth
        Instructor: Amy Lemer
        Instructor: Rachel McGee
        Instructor: Tracy Watkins

MAT107   Technical Mathematics I (4)
Students perform calculations using basic mathematical concepts that assist in the understanding of higher mathematics and power plant science subjects. Calculations involving scientific notation, dimensional analysis, exponents, logarithms, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry are performed; the concepts are essential to the comprehension of power plant equipment applications and systems operation. Students plot and analyze graphcs to help understand chart recordsers and other diagrams that relate to power plant system and equipment operational data.

MAT115   Elementary Statistics (3)
Prerequisites: MAT105. Offered in the spring semester only
Includes basic concepts of probability and statistics. The course covers permutations and combinations, measure of central tendency and variation, discrete and continuous distributions, sampling, regression and correlation.
        Instructor: Cierra Harrison
        Instructor: Richard Huddlestun
        Instructor: Ryan Karjala
        Instructor: Dianne Kauth
        Instructor: Kristine Larson
        Instructor: Amy Lemer

MAT120   Pre-Calculus (3)
Prerequisites: MAT105 or instructor consent. Offered on Iola campus fall semester only
Includes the study of algebraic, transcendental, and trigonometric functions. The course also includes a general background in analytic geometry and linear algebra.

MAT123   Calculus with Analytic Geometry I (5)
Prerequisites: MAT120 or MAT105 with instructor consent
Introduces analytic geometry, functions, limits and continuity, derivatives, and applications.
        Instructor: Ryan Karjala
        Instructor: Amy Lemer

MAT125   Calculus with Analytic Geometry II (5)
Prerequisites: MAT123 or instructor consent. Offered in the spring semester only
